Concons in-line electric actuators are now also suitable for applications in the food industry where they come into direct contact with foodstuffs and food processes, both during production and cleaning. The use of the innovative food-grade lubricant Omega 58 in the actuator offers a whole range of new possibilities for machine builders.

Concens’ popular electric linear actuators (electric cylinders) are ideally suited for precise linear motion control. To enable high-precision positioning, the cylinders are fully equipped with a spindle motor control and position detection, bringing their performance close to that of a normal hydraulic cylinder.
In principle, the actuators are already fully suitable for applications in the food industry. This is due to the smooth connections, polished surfaces and absence of sharp corners and dead spaces where product can remain or dirt can accumulate. The existing stainless steel (AISI 304 or 316) variants also meet the material requirements for use in the food industry.
Special lubricant
However, Concens now also offers linear actuators with the innovative Omega 58 lubricant, which has been thoroughly tested for purity. The USDA-certified food-grade lubricant is widely used in industrial processes where lubricant contact with foodstuffs could potentially cause contamination problems.
Omega 58 is non-toxic and also highly resistant to moisture (it passes the ASTM D1264 water washout test) and extreme temperature differences. Its lubricating and protective properties remain intact under all these conditions.
Performances
The in-line electric cylinders are available in two diameters that can be combined with an extensive range of stroke lengths, forces and speeds. In addition, there are a large number of mounting and control options.
With the availability of these Concens in-line electric actuators, machine builders have the opportunity to approach new markets and realise new applications for the food industry.
