As the official representative of Oriental Motor, Rotero introduces a new line of linear actuators. This DR series combines a stepper motor with a ball screw, making the actuators suitable for moving smaller products or precisely adjusting X-Y tables, cameras, mirrors, etc. Because the actuators are also very compact in design, they can be used flexibly in a wide range of applications.
Oriental Motor has developed a number of different versions within the DR line. In addition to the standard version, the linear drives are also available in combination with a linear table or with side guidance. Furthermore, there is a choice of spindle pitches of 2.5 and 1 mm. In the first case, a maximum speed of 100 mm/s can be achieved; the version with the larger lead is capable of transporting loads of up to 4 kg.
All versions have a length of 28 mm, a stroke length of up to 30 mm, a 24/48 VDC power supply and an optional adjustment knob. The maximum force that can be generated is 20 N. The three variants offer a flexible solution for practically every related issue, which also requires a minimum of installation space.
The compact design requires extra attention. The optimised design has significantly reduced the length of the actuators. This has been achieved, among other things, by using large-diameter ball bearings mounted on the outside of the ball screw nut.
Furthermore, linear actuators are extremely easy and flexible to install. The rotor, ball screw and ball nut are directly integrated, eliminating the need for a coupling. Ultimately, the engineer is dealing with a single complete product that can be installed and connected immediately, rather than a collection of separate components.
Furthermore, the housing design has been optimised so that a larger part of the housing rests on the mounting surface. Especially in the version with a linear table, this means a better distribution of the load, which benefits the service life of the entire drive. Finally, with the aid of specially designed mounting plates, virtually all mounting directions can be achieved.
The linear actuators from the DR series are suitable for, among other things, the highly accurate positioning of X-Y tables, the vertical movement of probes, the adjustment of mirrors in optics, the focusing of CCD cameras and the positioning of smaller products.
