New modular generation of locking units

Even seemingly simple products can be made cheaper through re-engineering. Magnet Schultz – specialists in solutions using electromagnets (solenoids) – proves this with its new G SC X locking units.

The “old” G SC X series was already extremely popular and remains so. This is because its features remain unchanged. The new locking units also have an IP40 protection class as standard and are optionally available as an IP65 variant. In the latter case, the solenoid is equipped with a scraper. All models are also equipped with maintenance-free bearings.

So what is changing? The price. For its latest series, Magnet Schultz is using modular coils that have already proven themselves in many other products “in the field”. They are widely used in the hydraulic sector, to great satisfaction.

The “secret of the smith” with these modular spools is their simple assembly and installation. Thanks to the innovative cartridge design, the coils are very easy to fit with a stainless steel connection and stainless steel pin, which ultimately leads to faster production and shorter lead times. In addition, the coils are used so often in Magnet Schultz’s standard range that they are produced in large volumes. This also contributes to a lower cost price.

A textbook example of how re-engineering adds value.
