New from JVL: linear stepper motors with different spindle variants

JVL introduces NEMA23/24 linear stepper motors with different spindle variants: ball screw spindle, threaded spindle and captive spindle. This makes the motors cheaper and more compact, which obviously benefits machine builders. The absence of couplings and other mechanical components also reduces the number of potential faults. Another new feature of these motors is the rear-mounted brake, which is an integrated component.

Linear stepper motors from JVL can make a significant contribution to reducing costs and the space required for installation. This is because there is no coupling or additional bearing support and no assembly work is required. In addition, the limited number of components contributes to a reduced risk of malfunction or failure and simpler maintenance. In applications where the forces are small, no linear guidance is required either.

The linear stepper motors with protection class NEMA23 and NEMA24 can now be combined with different spindle variants. The user can choose between a ball screw spindle, a threaded spindle and a captive spindle (enclosed spindle/device that prevents rotation). Depending on the application, this allows for a more economical and compact solution. The wide selection of different spindle pitches allows for resolutions of up to approximately 0.0015 mm.

Another new feature in these models is the integrated brake mounted at the rear. The absence of the brake cable to the IO connector results in improved braking performance, higher quality and higher torque. There is no risk of the axle slipping or alignment problems. Eliminating the cable also reduces costs.

The combination of motor including brake and plastic brake cover can be implemented in IP65.

The linear motors are available with different shaft and stroke lengths and are also equipped with a nut that stands out in terms of both design and material. Both factors contribute to a longer service life.
