JVL developed the MAC1500, 3000 and 4500 integrated servo motors especially for the higher power classes – typically from 1.5 to 4.5 kW. One of the distinctive features of these motors is that all components are integrated into a single unit. This includes the controller and PLC as well as the encoder, power supply and bus systems. This enables machine and plant manufacturers to build more compact and cost-effective designs by, for example, significantly reducing cabling requirements.
Three types of motors are available for higher power outputs, all of which are available with a brake (D2 version) or without a brake (D5 version), as required. The MAC1500 has a power output of 1.5 kW, the MAC3000 3 kW and the MAC4500 4.5 kW.
It is also possible to combine the motors with additional modules such as basic modules, programmable modules, fieldbus modules, wireless modules and high-speed modules for multi-axis applications. Most of these optional modules are equipped with cable glands, DSUB connectors or M12 connectors.
New to the high-power servo motors is the option to choose between:
- an absolute multiturn encoder without a battery
- Real-time Industrial Ethernet: Profinet, Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP, EtherCAT, Powerlink, and SercosIII.
Furthermore, the new versions are equipped with two RS422 channels for input/output and SSI encoder, among other features. The six available IOs can be used to record position, interruptions, counters, timers, and PLC functions.
The MacTalk software (also available from Rotero) can be used for installation, monitoring and diagnostics. This advanced software is highly intuitive and easy to use. All parameters can be set, saved or uploaded via the software. It also offers the option of monitoring parameters and motor status in real time. When commissioning the motors, the software also supports the user in testing their entire system.
