Unlike the ON/OFF rotary solenoid types GDA and GDC, the proportional rotary solenoid type GDR operates according to an electrodynamic principle, with a proportional relationship between torque and current and a constant torque across the entire working range. As a result, in combination with suitable controls and a rotary angle sensor, it is suitable for force and position-controlled actuator applications.
Obviously, the proportional rotary solenoid type GDR can also be used as an ON/OFF rotary solenoid. If the direction of rotation cannot be reversed by reversing the polarity, a return spring can be mounted, like the type GDA..
