Concens electric actuators now available for Food Grade applications

The Concens in-line electric actuators are now suitable for direct contact with food products and processes during both production and cleaning. The use of innovative food grade lubricant Omega 58 in the actuator opens up a range of potential new applications for machine builders.

The popular electric linear actuators (electric cylinders) from Concens are ideal for precision linear motion control, thanks to the fine positioning possible from the combination of spindle motor control and position sensing within the same cylinder package, which closely resembles a regular hydraulic cylinder. Physically, these cylinders are already perfectly suited to alimentary applications, with smooth joints and polished surfaces, and the absence of sharp corners and pockets that might catch product residues or accumulate contamination. The existing stainless steel (AISI 304 or 316) variants fulfil the material requirements for food applications. These in-line electric cylinders are available in two diameters and a wide range of stroke lengths, speeds and forces, while there are also extensive mounting and control options.

Concens now offers these linear actuators with the innovative controlled-purity lubricant Omega 58. Already USDA-approved, this food-grade lubricant is widely used in industrial processes where lubricant contact with food could potentially cause contamination problems. Not only is Omega 58 non-toxic, it can also withstand severe waterwash (ASTM D1264) and extreme temperature variation without degradation of its excellent lubrication and protection properties.

Machine builders now have the possibility to address new markets and applications in the food industry that can be enabled by deployment of the proven and popular Concens in-line electric actuators.
