3D configurator on new Servomech website

Servomech has recently launched a new website. Apart from the fresh new look, the company has also added several ‘smart’ features to simplify the use of the website. One of these is a newly-developed 3D configurator with which the linear actuators from the product line-up can be easily selected, configured and downloaded as a CAD file to incorporate in the user’s own design. The rich visual display of the various products, including the screw jacks, is also a feast for the eyes.

Italian manufacturer Servomech S.p.a. designs and produces various components to drive linear movements. These include linear actuators and jacks, but also coaxial and 90° gearboxes and ball screw spindles. The linear actuators and screw jacks are produced entirely in-house.

All products are presented on the new website in clearly defined product categories. The main technical specifications are stated beside each product. Visitors can also choose to view the site in either Italian, English or German, ensuring a good transfer of information.

A new feature of the website is the 3D configurator. This handy tool enables machine builders and system integrators to easily tailor the required linear drive to their specific needs. Once the correct drive and options have been selected, the configured product is previewed in 3D on the screen. The user can choose from several different projections to examine the product and its features. For example, there is a line projection that renders the actuator as ‘transparent’ and only displays the edges, but also a shaded solid view and cross-sections. Another option slowly rotates the chosen projection while the user views the product from all sides. While viewing the 3D image you can even choose to show the principal dimensions and stroke lengths.

After completing the configuration, the user can convert the 3D model to a CAD file with just one mouse click. This file can then be imported directly into the user’s CAD model. Not only does this save considerable draughting and engineering time; it also avoids unnecessary errors. To be able to use this service, the user simply needs to register with the website.

The 3D configurator is just one of the many ways in which Servomech graphically displays its various products. And that’s important, because an engineer can often tell whether a product is suitable at the very first glance. For example, the ball screw jacks are rendered so realistically on the updated website that the working principle is instantly clear.
