General
Can I also buy from Rotero as a private individual?
Rotero is an industrial supplier and we focus mainly on machine constructors that have needs associated with series production. We do not supply loose components to private individuals.
How long is the delivery time if Rotero does not have a product in stock?
If Rotero does not have a product in stock, we will order it for you from our supplier immediately as soon as we receive the order. Since our partners are located all over the world, the delivery time may vary. Please allow 4 to 6 weeks. We always state an expected delivery date on the order confirmation so you know exactly where you stand.
What applications can Rotero's products be used for?
Rotero’s products can be applied in various industries. We mainly target machine constructors in the food industry, agriculture and forestry, packaging machinery, the medical industry and automotive.
Rotero during the summer holidays
Rotero remains fully operational during the summer holidays. Some of our Italian suppliers do have a summer shutdown, but we do not. Our tip: place your orders in time. We can deliver throughout the entire summer, and scheduled call-offs from our warehouse are one of the services our customers value most.

How does a stepper motor work?
Stepper motors are used primarily for positioning applications. Angular rotation is triggered in steps by energising the appropriate coil and the controller knows the position of the motor based on the step count. The frequency at which a subsequent coil is energised determines the speed. The current determines the power of the stepper motor, but does not affect the speed or position.
What is the service life of the carbon brushes in a DC motor?
The service life of the carbon brushes depends on the design of the commutator and on the quality of the brushes. “Low-cost” motors usually have a service life of only 500 – 1,000 hours, but the service life of the better (more expensive) DC motors is between 2,000 and 5,000 hours. Pancake motors, where the brushes run very smoothly over the windings, can reach up to 15,000 hours.
Which type of motor can be controlled from 0 rpm upward?
Virtually every type of motor is characterised by ‘irregular running’ at low rpm. Depending on the type of motor and whether an encoder is used, the lower limit is from roughly 50 to 200 rpm. The only type of motor that can be controlled from 0 rpm is a stepper motor. This does require a good driver with a microstepping mode because otherwise the motor vibrates too much (due to an ‘aggressive’ motor stepping action).
